MOSCOW, Oct. 26 (UPI) -- Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said Wednesday the country is concerned about what he called U.S. violations of international law and U.N. regulations.
Russia's state-run news agency RIA Novosti reported Lavrov said Russia had "causes for concern about U.S. activity."
"Our concern is about the necessity to prevent new violations of the international law as well as new violations of U.N. rules," Lavrov said.
RIA Novosti did not provide specifics of any alleged violations.
Lavrov criticized Washington for issuing in August the "Magnitsky blacklist" -- a list of about 60 Russian officials barred from traveling to the United States because of their alleged involvement in the arrest, imprisonment and death of Serge Magnitsky, a lawyer arrested after accusing Russian tax officials of corruption.
"We realize our concerns not through the lists game, inexplicably loved by the United States, but through outlining direct issues like the ones we put forward during the Libyan conflict," Lavrov said.
Russia's Foreign Ministry said Saturday it released a list of "undesirable" U.S. officials barred from entry to Russia in response to the U.S. list.
RIA Novosti noted Lavrov's comments came after U.S. House Speaker John Boehner, R-Ohio, urged the Obama administration to rethink its approach to Russia, saying the country was trying "to restore Soviet-style power and influence."
