Serial killer's relative guilty of murder

CAMPBELLTOWN, Australia, Oct. 24 (UPI) -- An Australian teenage boy related to a serial killer pleaded guilty to murdering another teen with an axe.

The boy, who has not been named, pleaded guilty in Campbelltown Children's Court Sunday via video link, the Macarthur Chronicle reported.

The boy was accused of killing David Auchterlonie, 17, for allegedly spreading rumors the boy had stolen money from his own mother.

During the killing, which was caught on video, the killer tells Auchterlonie, "from what I've heard, you're the one who's going around telling people about the money that I stole from my mum's house," The Sydney Morning Herald reported.

"Whilst the victim was lying with his head on the ground, the accused ... swung back the axe and hit the deceased in the back of the head, where the axe remained lodged in the deceased's skull,' the police statement said.

The young killer is related to Ivan Milat, who killed seven backpackers in the 1990s.

"You know me, you know my family ... . I did what they do," court papers reveal he told a friend.

The teen is to be sentenced by the Supreme Court in Sydney Dec. 2.
