Six dead in Nepal plane crash

BAGLUNG, Nepal, Oct. 19 (UPI) -- Rescuers in Nepal said Wednesday they have located the remains of all six people killed in the crash of a Nepal Army plane.

The RAN 49BN2T Islander, en route from Nepalgunj to Kathmandu, went down in a forest area of Balung district Tuesday evening shortly after losing contact with air traffic controllers, Nepalnews.com reported.

The Nepal Army has assembled a seven-member panel to investigate the cause of the crash.

Five of the crash victims were military members.

They were identified as Bikash Singh Rathaur, Diwakar Karki, Dr. Rabita Pathak, Ram Gotame and Keshab Aidi.

Officials at Nepalgunj Airport told Republica of Nepal that the military aircraft was transporting Keshab Aidi, who was suffering from meningitis, to a hospital in Kathmandu.

Aidi's brother, Ram, was also aboard the aircraft and died in the crash.
