Court frees parents accused of raping kids

JONKOPING, Sweden, Oct. 17 (UPI) -- A court in Jonkoping, Sweden, has freed a mother and father suspected of raping their three daughters.

People close to the children, ages 5, 8 and 11, became suspicious that they were being sexually abused when they started acting oversexed, a common reaction to sexual abuse, the Swedish news agency TT reported.

During a search of the family's home, police allegedly discovered a number of pornographic videos.

Following three days of hearings, the Swedish district court ruled Friday the girls' statements, which made up a large portion of the evidence against their parents, were not enough to prosecute the parents.

What exactly the parents were accused of doing to the three girls remains confidential, along with their identities. It wasn't reported whether the girls had been returned to their parents' custody.
