MAGRATH, Alberta, Oct. 16 (UPI) -- A single-car rollover near Magrath, Alberta, left four teenagers dead, police said.

The victims of the Saturday night crash east of Magrath were two 16-year-old boys and two 14-year-old girls, all from Magrath, the Canadian Broadcasting Corp. reported.

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police said the teens' vehicle missed a bridge and skidded off the road, landing upside down partially submerged in a creek. Investigators blamed the crash on speed and driver inexperience, and did not believe alcohol was a factor, the CBC said.

Magrath Mayor Russ Barnett said the accident had a big impact on the town of about 2,300 people.

"Everybody in church today was grieving, sad, distraught over the accident," Barnett said. "There wasn't a dry eye from the youth all the way up to the grandmas and grandpas in the whole congregation. It was just a very sad day in our community."
