Job action slows down Toronto airport

TORONTO, Oct. 8 (UPI) -- Security lines at the Toronto airport appeared to be close to normal Saturday after two days of delays due to a labor dispute, officials said.

The Canadian Air Transport Security Authority advised travelers planning to fly out of Pearson International Airport to check with their airlines before heading there, the Canadian Broadcasting Corp. reported.

Screeners began a work-to-rule action Thursday. While Garda Security, their employer, obtained a court injunction immediately against the job action, the delays continued Friday.

The Greater Toronto Airport Authority said about 10 percent of departures from Pearson were canceled Friday. One early flight left 5 hours after the scheduled time and long after it should have arrived in New York.
