MEXICO CITY, Oct. 6 (UPI) -- Noel Salguerio Nevarez, one of Mexico's most wanted men and an alleged leader in the Sinaloa drug cartel, was arrested by the Mexican army, a report said.

Military officials said Nevarez, known as "El Flaco Salgueiro," The Skinny One, was arrested Tuesday during a special operation in Culiacan, Sinaloa, the El Paso (Texas) Times reported

Salgueiro is the alleged founder of the "Gente Nueva" group that has been fighting the Juarez drug cartel for control in the state of Chihuahua, officials said.

The newspaper said Salgueiro was featured on fugitive billboards throughout Chihuahua.

Officials say Gente Nueva group is allied with Artistas Asesinos and the Mexicles in a war against La Linea and its allies.
