Small plane collides with Ferris wheel

OLD BAR, Australia, Oct. 1 (UPI) -- Four people were rescued after an ultralight plane crashed into a Ferris wheel at a rural Australian festival Saturday.

The pilot of the Cheetah S200 and his passenger were stuck in the plane, and two children were trapped in a carriage on the ride at the rural festival in the coastal village of Old Bar, the Sydney Morning Herald reported.

"All the people involved in that incident do appear to have been able to get away without any serious injury," a Rural Fire Services spokesman said.

A crane was used to free the children and the pilot and passenger from the wreckage, Sky News reported.

"I was freaking out that the crane was going to take forever," said Jessie Arndell, 9.

A witness said there were not many people are the festival because it was raining.

"Because the rain was stopping and starting, stopping and starting, it was almost empty," Fizal Meah said. "A few minutes earlier, it was chockers. We were so, so lucky with the weather."
