130,000 travelers visit Israel's parks

TEL AVIV, Israel, Sept. 30 (UPI) -- Nice weather drew nearly 130,000 travelers to Israel's national parks on the second day of Rosh Hashana.

The most popular spots this year included Yarkon National Park, Caesarea, Ein Gedi and the Tel Dan Nature Reserve, Ynetnews reported.

Kiryat Shmona resident Moshe Ashrian visited Ya'ar HaAyalim in the northern part of Israel with his extended family.

"We came here to ride ponies, hike and enjoy with the family," he said.

"The north is amazing," said Ashrian's brother-in-law, Shaul Goren of Yahod. "It's the perfect season as far as the weather goes because it's not too cold or too hot."

Israel Nature and Parks Authority officials say hikers avoided areas with water, however, because of strong winds. More travelers are expected to stop by the country's parks Saturday as well.
