Authorities said al-Fiqqi gave away the broadcasting rights to Egypt's premier soccer league the past three seasons to private satellite channels, costing the country more than $300,000 in revenue.

Al-Sheik was found to have spent more than $3 million in public funds, buying and airing 10 TV series in 2009 without getting proper approval.
