Bombings, attacks kill at least 21 in Iraq

BAGHDAD, Sept. 14 (UPI) -- At least 21 people died in attacks across Iraq, including Anbar province, where police said a bomb exploded inside a bus carrying troops, officials said.

Military officials said six soldiers were killed and 10 people were injured when the bomb went off inside the vehicle as soldiers were going to a restaurant at Camp Habbaniya, an Iraqi military base near Ramadi, The New York Times reported Wednesday.

Officials in Babel province said 13 people, including 10 police officers, died in an explosion of a bomb planted in a parked car near a restaurant in Shomaly township on the road between Baghdad and Basra, Aswat al-Iraq reported. Police said 43 were injured.

In Baghdad, gunmen attacked a security checkpoint, killing two police officers and wounding a third, officials said.
