Lightning hits India cracker plant, 3 dead

NEW DELHI, Sept. 9 (UPI) -- Lightning struck a cracker-making plant in India Friday, setting off an explosion that killed three women workers, police said.

The blast at the plant in Ghaziabad in northern Uttar Pradesh state near New Delhi also injured four others outside, the Press Trust of India reported.

The plant's structure collapsed, a police official said.

The official said the plant was among several in the area that operate illegally.
