Lebanon urged to cooperate in arrests

BEIRUT, Lebanon, Sept. 2 (UPI) -- A U.N.-backed tribunal looking into the 2005 assassination of former prime minister Rafik Hariri said Lebanon must continue to search for the suspects.

"The Lebanese prosecutor general is required to continue to report on a monthly basis until the accused are arrested," a spokesperson for the Special Tribunal for Lebanon told The Daily Star.

The tribunal issued an indictment in June, accusing four Hezbollah members of involvement in the assassination. The Shiite group, which plays a dominant role in the current government, denies the allegations and has said it will not cooperate with the tribunal.
