SCHWABING, Germany, Aug. 30 (UPI) -- A former secretary of German despot Adolf Hitler's propaganda minister, Joseph Goebbels, said she will never forgive him "for what he brought into the world."
Brunhilde Pomsel, now 100, broke a 66-year vow of silence in an interview with the German newspaper Bild during which she recounted working for Goebbels from 1942 to 1945 during World War II.
She recalled taking down his dictated orders to rid Berlin of Jews.
"I will never forgive Goebbels for what he brought into this world," Pomsel told Bild. "He got away lightly with suicide. He knew he would be condemned to death by the Allies."
She described Goebbels as a cold, distant man.
"Right up until the end, I don't think he knew my name," she said.
Pomsel said she was one of the fastest typists at a Berlin radio station and "conscripted" to work for him.
Pomsel said she did not know about the Holocaust until after the war.
"I was a stupid, politically uninterested little sausage of simple means," she said.
And only after the war, she said, did she learn Goebbels and his wife Magda forced their six children to commit suicide by swallowing cyanide vials and that he fatally shot his wife and himself.
After Hitler killed himself in May 1945, she said, Russians captured her in the cellar where she was working and she spent the next five years in Russian camps.
