JERUSALEM, Aug. 30 (UPI) -- Israeli defense officials said Tuesday they fear new anti-tank missiles from Iran may be transferred to Hamas in Gaza or Hezbollah in Lebanon.

Unnamed officials told The Jerusalem Post they fear the missiles will be used against Israeli tanks and armored personnel carriers.

On Monday, IRNA, Iran's state news agency, reported that Iranian Defense Minister Ahmed Vahidi said mass production had begun on portable missiles with a warhead capable of destroying targets at a distance of nearly a mile and able to penetrate almost a foot of reinforced steel in armored vehicles.
