ISTANBUL, Turkey, Aug. 26 (UPI) -- The Turkish military says no civilians have been killed in attacks on Kurdish rebels in northern Iraq.

Turkey says 90 to 100 Kurdish rebels were killed and about 80 people wounded in the attacks last week on rebel barracks and ammunition depots, CNN reported Friday.

A spokesman for the Kurdistan Workers' Party, known by the acronym PKK, denies any rebels have been killed and alleges seven civilians, including five children and a woman, died trying to flee attacks on the village of Golle last week, the Turkish newspaper Today's Zaman reported.

The Turkish Foreign Ministry said military jets only targeted PKK sites and allege images of people killed during the raids were fabricated.

The newspaper said the PKK has killed some 40 Turkish soldiers since July and last week's offensive began shortly after eight Turkish soldiers and a guard were killed in a PKK ambush near Turkey's border with Iraq.
