The newspaper's parent company, Torstar Corp., issued a news release apologizing for the skimpy publication.
"An internal computer glitch took down the Star's e-mail, Internet and internal computer applications used to create newspaper and web pages and build advertisements for more than four hours yesterday," the release said. "We are sorry for any inconvenience to both our readers and advertisers."
Torstar didn't divulge the nature of the computer failure.
The company said the outage also affected publishing its other Ontario newspapers, including the Hamilton Spectator, the Guelph Mercury and Kitchener-Waterloo Record.
