China train crash toll: 39 dead, 192 hurt

BEIJING, July 25 (UPI) -- The death toll from a high-speed train collision in China rose to 39 Monday, with 192 injured, including 12 in critical condition, officials said.

The crash occurred Saturday on a viaduct near Wenzhou in Zhejiang province, one high-speed train rear-ending another, authorities said.

Several bodies were found Monday, China's state-run news agency Xinhua reported.

The U.S. Embassy in China confirmed that two U.S. citizens were among the dead, Xinhua said.

Wenzhou government officials said the identities of 38 victims had been confirmed and DNA test results of one body were pending.
