VANCOUVER, British Columbia, July 20 (UPI) -- Vancouver police say they are preparing charges against 37 people for taking part in the city's Stanley Cup riot last month.
Police Chief Jim Chu said in addition to the 30 men and seven women who turned themselves in, hundreds more are being investigated for possible charges, the Canadian Broadcasting Corp. reported.
The chief said determining whom to charge, and with what infractions, is expected to be "a lengthy and complex process."
Dozens of investigators are checking out 4,300 e-mail tips and are reviewing 1,500 hours of video tape, the CBC said.
The riots broke out June 15 after the Boston Bruins beat the Vancouver Canucks for the NHL championship.
At least 140 people were reported as injured, including nine police officers. More than 100 people were arrested that night.
