4 saved from burning boat off Nova Scotia

HALIFAX, Nova Scotia, July 18 (UPI) -- Four men forced to abandon their burning fishing boat off the coast of Nova Scotia were rescued unharmed, officials said.

The Canadian coast guard said the fishermen were in life boats when plucked to safety by a nearby boat, the Canadian Broadcasting Corp. reported.

An emergency call went out about 8:30 p.m. Sunday after the Emily Lisa caught fire about 78 miles southeast of Halifax, the CBC said.

The men were not injured.

The cause of the fire had not been determined and it wasn't clear how long the fishermen had been in the water before being rescued.
