Suicide bomber kills six in Pakistan

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan, July 11 (UPI) -- A suicide bomber killed at least six people and wounded 15 more at a northwest Pakistan site where a political rally had been scheduled, authorities said.

The attack Monday occurred in Butgram in Khyber-Pakhtunkwa province, about 80 miles north of the Pakistani capital of Islamabad, CNN reported.

It occurred before an address by Amir Muqam, a senior leader of a faction of the Pakistan Muslim League.

CNN quoted Khalid Umarzai, a senior government official, as saying the attacker set off explosives when security people stopped him at the entrance to the rally.

Those killed included two policemen and two women, he said.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the attack.
