Neighbor saves falling Chinese tot

HONGZHOU, China, July 3 (UPI) -- Witnesses say a woman walking past an apartment building in China reached out in time to save the life of a toddler who had fallen from a 10th-floor window.

Wu Juping kicked off her high heels and raced over to break the fall of the plummeting 2-year-old, breaking her arm in the process but saving the little girl's life.

The youngster, nicknamed Niu Niu, dangled from her window ledge just long enough for Wu and others to see what was about to occur, China's Xinhua news agency.

"She clung to the windowpane for about two minutes and then fell to the ground," said a neighbor.

News of Wu's deed, which took place on a street in Hangzhou, quickly lit up Chinese social media sites.

Wu, who lives in Niu Niu's building, told Xinhua she had no regrets and hoped the child would quickly recover from her own injuries.
