The Special Court presided over by Border Guard Bangladesh Director General Maj. Gen. Rafiqul Islam acquitted nine others, saying charges against them were not proved.

Those sentenced were convicted on various charges including defying orders, not resisting the rebels joining the mutiny, not informing higher authorities about the revolt, and taking part and expressing solidarity with the mutineers.

The 2009 revolt led to the deaths of 74 people, including 57 army officials, the report said.

The trials began in March 2010. Prosecution lawyers said 58 witnesses were cross-examined.
