Blasts in Nigerian tavern kill at least 25

MAIDUGURI, Nigeria, June 27 (UPI) -- Bombs exploded at a popular bar in Maiduguri, Nigeria, killing at least 25 people and injuring many others, police said.

Witnesses said at least three bombs went off at the establishment Sunday, the Abuja Daily Trust reported Monday.

No one had claimed responsibility for the explosions but police said they had the hallmarks of the Boko Haram sect, which had been making deadly attacks in Nigeria's Borno state for more than a year.

Dozens of shops were damaged in the Maiduguri blasts, police said.

Police said two gunmen riding a motorcycle Sunday attacked mourners in Gamboru Ngala, a town along the Nigeria-Cameroon border, killing one person and wounding another in the neck, the Daily Trust said.

Police said another man was killed in Gamboru Ngala Sunday in a separate incident.
