Trainer plane crashes, two killed

SEOUL, June 21 (UPI) -- A South Korean military training plane crashed Tuesday in the central part of the country, killing the two airmen aboard, the military said.

The Russian-made single-engine, propeller-driven Ilyushin II-103 plane crashed shortly after takeoff into a rice field near the Air Force Academy in Cheongwon in North Chungcheong province, about 75 miles south of Seoul, Yonhap News Agency reported.

"The Air Force is investigating the cause of the crash," an Air Force official said.
