Alleged Israeli teen spy arrested in Egypt

CAIRO, June 12 (UPI) -- A 14-year-old Israeli boy arrested in Egypt was a spy, authorities allege.

The teenager is suspected of transferring information during the revolution in Egypt this spring, al-Masry al-Youm reported Sunday. Security services found the suspect with a laptop and satellite phone he allegedly used to contact the Israelis, the Egyptian newspaper said.

The suspect was monitored since he entered Egypt in February, and had been seen at Tahrir Square, Atfeeh church, Imbaba's Virgin Mary church, Imbaba village and Sol village, all places where sectarian clashes had taken place during the revolution that toppled Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak.

The suspect denied the allegations in interviews with authorities, and it had yet to be reported whether or not he had partners, al-Masry al-Youm said.

"More details will be announced later," sources told the newspaper, "but this case is of great importance, especially after reported news about tensions between Cairo and Tel Aviv."
