KARACHI, Pakistan, June 9 (UPI) -- Pakistani Prime Minister Yousuf Gilani has ordered an investigation into the killing of a teenager by Rangers paramilitaries in a Karachi park, officials said.

Rangers said Sarfaraz Shah, 19, was caught attempting to rob two women -- a charge his family denies -- and video broadcast on Pakistani television Wednesday showed the teen pleading for his life before being shot twice, The Express Tribune reported Thursday.

The video shows a man in plain clothes dragging a young man by his hair toward a group of Sindh Rangers, a uniformed paramilitary group. Five Rangers were arrested later.

Shah's mother blamed Interior Minister Rehman Malik for the killing.

"Who has allowed the Rangers to open fire on citizens?" asked Manzoor Fatima. "Rehman Malik has given the shoot at sight order."

Fatima said her son, the youngest of four brothers, had hoped to study computer science and had completed his exams.
