Paris protesters want jobs, not corruption

PARIS, May 30 (UPI) -- About 1,000 protesters took to the streets in Paris, calling for an uprising to mirror a Spanish campaign denouncing political corruption, officials said.

Demonstrators gathered on Bastille square Sunday holding banners reading "Real democracy now" and "Paris wake up," Radio France Internationale reported Monday.

Protester Chantal Pignau said demonstrators want "a change in economic structures to improve the sharing of world resources."

In Spain, protesters calling themselves "the indignant" were camped in at the Puerta del Sol square, demanding more jobs and an end to government corruption.

Elsewhere in France, demonstrators in Toulouse and Bayonne carried banners reading, "We all have reasons to be indignant."
