3 dead in China chemical plant explosion

ZIBO CITY, China, May 29 (UPI) -- Three people were killed Saturday in an explosion at a chemical plant in Zibo City, Shandong province, city officials said Sunday.

Two people died at the scene of the 9:30 p.m. Saturday blast at a plant operated by Shandong Baoyuan Chemical Co., Xinhua reported.

A third person died in a hospital, and eight others were injured, the news agency said.

The clause of the explosion was being investigated.
