ISLAMABAD, Pakistan, May 7 (UPI) -- Pakistani officials have launched an investigation into security and intelligence failures following the killing of Osama bin Laden.
Chief of Army Staff Gen. Ashfaq Parvez Kayani met with Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani Saturday to discuss the U.S. operation that resulted in the killing of bin Laden Sunday by U.S. Navy Seals, Dawn News reported.
Kayani ordered an investigation into intelligence failures by the army and the Pakistani spy agency, ISI.
The group also discussed Pakistan's role in fighting terrorism, Dawn said.
Pakistan has been criticized for its lack of action against the world's most-wanted terrorist and its intelligence agencies have come under fire for failing to uncover bin Laden living in a large compound near military bases in Abbottabad.
Kayani said information from the investigation would be turned over to government officials.
