JERUSALEM, April 30 (UPI) -- A Hamas official has denied reports the group's political leadership is leaving Syria and moving to Qatar.

The Jerusalem Post Saturday quoted a report from Israel Radio in which the Hamas official also denied a Hamas office would be opened in Egypt.

The unnamed official also refused to comment on another report that the commander of Hamas' military wing, Ahmen Jabari, spoke in Cairo with Egyptian Intelligence Minister Murad Muwafi about the release of Gilad Shalit, an Israeli soldier abducted in a cross-border raid in 2006.
