Mubarak flight from Egypt claimed

CAIRO, April 3 (UPI) -- Deposed Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak was reported to have flown to Germany Sunday, sources told al-Jazeera, but the claim was not confirmed.

Al-Jazeera said the sources had Mubarak leaving the Red Sea resort of Sharm el-Sheik, where he and his family have been under house arrest since his downfall Feb. 11.

He has had medical treatment in Germany in the past.

Egypt's ruling military council has repeatedly said Mubarak would not be allowed out of the country, even for medical treatment, Al Jazeera reported.

Iran's government-run Press TV reported Sunday that Germany has not commented on the report.

On Friday, thousands of Egyptians rallied in Cairo's Tahrir Square to demand the resignation of all Mubarak regime officials and a trial for the fallen dictator.
