Three Filipinos executed in China

March 30, 2011 at 7:45 AM

BEIJING, March 30 (UPI) -- Three Filipino workers convicted of drug trafficking were executed by lethal injection in China Wednesday, officials said.

The three were identified as Sally Ordinario-Villanueva, 32, Elizabeth Batain, 38, and Ramon Credo, 42, the Philippines' GMA News reported.

The executions were scheduled last month but were postponed after Philippine President Benigno Aquino III sent his adviser on overseas Filipino workers to Beijing.

Under China's criminal code, smuggling of any narcotic drug into the country is punishable by death.
