CIUDAD JUAREZ, Mexico, March 16 (UPI) -- A suspected kidnapper who cut off victims' fingers has been caught, authorities in northern Mexico say.

Chihuahua state investigators arrested Jose Solis Camacho, alias "El Stich," on Tuesday for the abduction of a woman on Feb. 21, 2010, The El Paso (Texas) Times reported.

The victim was seized from her car on a Ciudad Juarez street and taken to a secret location where she was tied up and blindfolded, police said.

Two of her fingers were cut off and left outside her family's business with a demand for $50,000 and a Hummer as ransom. The family eventually paid about $4,000 and the vehicle, which police later recovered.

Enrique "El Peque" Caballero Acosta, 19, was sentenced recently to 40 years in prison for the crime.

Kidnappings are a major part of the drug violence plaguing Juarez.

On Monday, police foiled a kidnapping when they chased down a vehicle, freed a 56-year-old victim and arrested four men.
