REGINA, Saskatchewan, March 11 (UPI) -- Blizzard conditions Friday prompted Canadian police to warn motorists to stay off highways in southern Saskatchewan.

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police said they advised against hitting the roads until conditions improved, the Canadian Broadcasting Corp. reported.

Weather-related traffic accidents were reported east of Regina, Balgonie and Pilot Butte, although there were no serious injuries, the RCMP said.

Environment Canada had issued blizzard warnings for Moosomin, Grenfell, Kipling, Wawota, Carlyle, Oxbow, Carnduff, Bienfait, Stoughton, Estevan, Weyburn, Radville and Milestone.

There was an intense low-pressure system moving across North Dakota bringing strong northwest winds, some gusting up to 43 mph, and snow to the southern part of Saskatchewan, Environment Canada said.
