Israeli Web sites hacked

JERUSALEM, Feb. 27 (UPI) -- Computer hackers have compromised several Internet sites in Israel, posting Muslim prayers and a picture of a Koran, site officials said.

A group called "Team Kuwait Hackers" shut down sites for the Israel Scouts and Israeli gap-year programs, The Jerusalem Post reported.

Debbie Goldsmith, a director of the site Aardvark Israel, said hackers Saturday posted "a countdown and a clickable button, accompanied by eerie music. It sounded like Muslim prayers."

Later Saturday the site showed a message in Arabic, a picture of a Koran, and the message: "TeaM KuWaiT HaCkErS - HaCkErS eV!L."

Alex Zilberman of APR, the company that manages Aardvark Israel's Web site, said hackers also infiltrated the group's international site last week.

Last weekend Turkish hackers also hijacked Arutz Meir, an Israeli site for Torah education. It displayed a photograph of a boy in a kaffiyeh flashing a "V" for victory and the message "stop supporting baby-killers."

"Team Kuwait Hackers" says on its Facebook page it has "The Best HaCkeRs iN The World."

Zilberman said that the group used a simple method to hijack the Web pages.

"They use search engines to find sites with weaknesses that they can take advantage of," Zilberman said. "When they find ones that interest them, they use their method."
