JERUSALEM, Feb. 24 (UPI) -- The Israeli air force, responding to rockets launched from the Gaza Strip that landed in the Negev area, fired on terrorist targets, Israeli military said.

The Israeli military "will respond with diligent force to anyone who uses terror against the state of Israel and will not tolerate any attempt to harm Israeli citizens or … soldiers," officials said Thursday in a release.

The rocket fire from Gaza and Israel's response occurred Wednesday.

Israeli Red Cross officials said no one was hurt by the rocket blasts, but two women and two children were treated for shock, The Jerusalem Post reported.

Hamas outposts in uninhabited areas, weapons arsenals and smuggling tunnels were attacked, the army statement said.

Palestinian sources told the Post targets near refugee camps and in Khan Younis and Rafah also were attacked. No casualties were reported on the Palestinian side.

The Israeli military said it would hold Hamas "solely responsible for any activity taking place in the Gaza Strip and for keeping the area calm."

Israeli Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman said Wednesday he instructed the Israeli United Nations delegation to file a complaint with the U.N. Security Council and General Assembly about the rocket attacks.
