KHOST PROVINCE, Afghanistan, Feb. 24 (UPI) -- U.S. military officials reported several insurgents, including a terrorist leader, were apprehended in Afghanistan by Afghan and coalition troops.

Hezb-e Islami Gulbuddin, a terrorist leader, was captured Wednesday, the U.S. Defense Department reported.

Gulbuddin and another suspected insurgent were being held in the Sabari district in Khost province for allegedly trafficking explosive devices and other arms throughout the province, the Defense Department said.

Security forces also detained suspected insurgents each in Kandahar City, the Shah Wali Kot district of Kandahar province and Nawah-ye Barakzai district in Helmand province.

They also found several weapons stockpiles throughout Afghanistan.
