Couple to sue restaurant over son's death

AVIGNON, France, Feb. 23 (UPI) -- A French couple say their teenage son was fatally infected with staphylococcus aureus from hamburgers he ate at a fast-food restaurant in Avignon.

Benjamin Orset, 14, died in January less than a day after he ate two hamburgers at the Quick franchise, Radio France Internationale reports. A lawyer representing his parents said Tuesday they plan to sue the chain.

The boy died Jan. 22, after eating at the Quick the evening before, the report said. His death was blamed on food poisoning, and the lawyer says staphylococcus was found in his stomach, on five Quick workers and on the kitchen floor.

The restaurant reopened last weekend, although the chain said it is now running it with two other Quicks managed by the same franchisee.
