WikiLeaks threatens to sue defector

LONDON, Feb. 11 (UPI) -- A spokesman for WikiLeaks said Friday the whistle-blower Web site plans to sue a German defector who has set up a rival site and written a tell-all memoir.

Kristinn Hrafnsson, an Icelander who succeeded Daniel Domscheit-Berg as WikiLeaks spokesman, described the book as based on "limited information or malicious falsifications," The Independent reported. He said Domscheit-Berg also admitted in "Inside WikiLeaks" that he committed sabotage before his departure, the British newspaper said.

Domscheit-Berg now runs a Web site called "Open Leaks." His book hit stores in Germany Friday and goes on sale in Britain next week.

WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange, an Australian, is fighting extradition from Britain to Sweden, where he faces charges of molesting two young women. In the book, Domscheit-Berg describes Assange as a paranoid autocrat with a taste for young women.

Domscheit-Berg in the memoir said he and the programmer who developed much of WikiLeaks' software disabled a key that allows contributors to remain unidentified and removed 3,500 files because they believed Assange is irresponsible.

"Children shouldn't play with guns," he said.
