BELOVO, Russia, Jan. 30 (UPI) -- More than 100 patients were evacuated from a hospital in the Kemerovo Region in southwest Siberia where a roof had collapsed, officials said.

In addition to 109 patients, 10 members of the hospital's staff were safely evacuated when more than 600 square yards of the roof caved in at Belovo's hospital No. 1, Sunday, RIA Novosti reported.

"The patients, 109 people, and the hospital's 10-member staff who were in the division were promptly evacuated. No one was hurt in the incident," a spokesperson for the regional emergencies ministry said.

Officials did not say what caused the roof to collapse into the hospital's therapeutics ward.

A roof collapsed on a supermarket in St. Petersburg on Jan. 25, killing a woman and injuring 13 other people.
