Authorities know who bombed Moscow airport

MOSCOW, Jan. 29 (UPI) -- Russian authorities say they have identified the suicide bomber that killed 35 people at Moscow's Domodedovo Airport on Jan. 24.

But Federal Investigative Committee spokesman Vladimir Markin said the 20-year-old man's name wouldn't be released while investigations continue, RIA Novosti reported.

Officials said the man was a resident of Russia's North Caucasus region and that the bomb was primarily aimed at foreigners.

"It was no accident that the terrorist attack took place in the international arrivals zone," Markin said. "Investigators believe that it was directed against, in the first place, foreign nationals."

Monday's blast also injured 180 others. No one has taken responsibility for the blast, which came less than a year after two female suicide bombers killed 39 people on the Moscow metro.

They were from the North Caucasus republic of Dagestan.
