GAZA, Jan. 27 (UPI) -- The Palestinian Authority Civil Administration office in northern Gaza was ransacked by unknown assailants, officials said Thursday.

The administration office is charged with coordinating with Israel passage at the Gaza border terminals, Ma'an news agency reported.

The break-in occurred just hours after the al-Jazeera news agency leaked additional documents Wednesday night, Ma'an said.

Since the beginning of the week the Qatar-based network began leaking some 1,600 secret documents on Middle East negotiations that revealed concessions made by the Palestinian Authority and Israel in an effort to reach a peace agreement.

Officials who arrived at work in the morning found the doors had been forced open, desks overturned, computers smashed and mobile phones had been taken, al-Jazeera said

Wednesday night, al-Jazeera said the Palestinian Authority, with U.S. encouragement, delayed a vote in the United Nations on the Goldstone Report on war crimes allegedly committed during Operation Cast Lead, Israel's military offensive into Gaza. The station claimed Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas knew in advance Israel's intention to launch the military action in December 2008 into early 2009, Ynetnews.com said.
