Unleashed German shepherd attacks 3

TORONTO, Jan. 20 (UPI) -- Police north of Toronto are searching for the owner of an unleashed large German shepherd that attacked three people and injured two of them.

The attacks happened Wednesday at a strip mall in Vaughn and involved a 100-pound black and tan male dog, York Regional Police said.

Its owner left the dog loose as he made a 5-minute stop at a convenience store, the report said.

During that time, the dog attacked a 16-year-old girl and bit her shoulder, an injury that required stitches. It then attacked a 66-year-old man, gouging his arm and neck. The wounds required more than 20 stitches, the police said. A 41-year-woman was then attacked but managed to get into the convenience store uninjured.

The owner of the convenience store gave police security videos that show the dog's owner moving around the store as the attacks were happening.

Police made a public appeal for the man to turn himself in or for someone to identify him.
