BAGHDAD, Jan. 17 (UPI) -- A suicide bomber detonated an explosive-laden vehicle in Iraq Monday, killing three civilians and wounding five others, police said.

The bomb in the attack in Ramadi, capital of Anbar province, was intended for al-Anbar Gov. Qassim Mohammad Abdu, KUNA reported.

The governor survived the explosion.

Security officials sealed off the area, fearful of a second attack, police said.
