STOCKHOLM, Sweden, Dec. 19 (UPI) -- WikiLeaker Julian Assange is facing a leak about him: the confidential Swedish police report on his sex charges.
The police statement, reported by The New York Times, traces four days in August when Assange had what he says were consensual sexual relationships with two Swedish women. Their accounts, on which Sweden is trying to extradite him, state that the encounters began consensually, but changed when he persisted in having unprotected sex despite their insistence that he use a condom.
Assange supporters say the women are complicit in an American campaign to punish him for the group's vast release of confidential documents. They note that the Swedish prosecutor's office had dropped the most serious allegations against Assange but later revived them.
Swedish legal experts say it is not unusual for such a case to be adjusted under complicated sex crimes laws.
The report backs the claim that the women seemed willing to continue friendships with Assange after the incidents. They did not go to the police until they found that they had had similar experiences.
One woman said Assange continued after the condom broke, and the second that he had sex with her while she was asleep.
