Death toll rises in Pakistan drone attacks

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan, Dec. 18 (UPI) -- The death toll from drone attacks in Pakistan's Khyber tribal district late this week has risen to about 60 people, officials say.

The BBC reports at least 50 people died in three strikes by unmanned aircraft in the Tirah Valley Friday, a day after seven others were killed nearby.

Pakistani security officials say all those killed were militants. The British network said that could not be independently confirmed.

The BBC also reported U.S. intelligence has confirmed the CIA has pulled out its top spy from Pakistan because of threats on his life.
