Traffic stop leads to discovery of body

PRINCE GEORGE, British Columbia, Nov. 29 (UPI) -- Canadian police say an officer's decision to stop a suspicious vehicle led to the discovery of a 15-year-old girl's body and the arrest of a 20-year-old man.

A Royal Canadian Mounted Police officer in British Columbia noticed a pickup truck turning onto a highway from a disused logging road Saturday and after pulling the vehicle over became suspicious of the driver's answers to questions, Canadian Broadcasting Corp. reported.

Conservation officers were called in to retrace the pickup's tracks to an old logging road, RCMP Cpl. Dan Moskaluk said.

"As the (conservation service officer) examined the area he located the lifeless body of the teenage girl at around 11:50 p.m., a distance away from the side road," Moskaluk said.

"The state of the young girl indicated that she had been murdered just hours before the man's arrest," he said.

Police have not released the suspect's name and charges had yet to be filed.

Police have also not released the victim's name, or any information on how she died or how she may be linked to the suspect, CBC said.
