The Iraqi Interior Ministry said three other people were wounded Tuesday when bombs detonated outside of Christian homes in western Iraq.

Kuwaiti news agency KUNA said attacks were reported on homes of Christians in several neighborhoods throughout Baghdad.

Neighbors told The New York Times one of the dead was a Muslim who had run outside to offer help and was killed in a secondary blast.

The house belonged to relatives of one of the victims of the Oct. 31 massacre at the Syrian Catholic Church of Our Lady of Salvation.

Well-wishers had hung a mourning banner on the home in Kamsara to commemorate the loss. On Wednesday, the relatives said the banner must have served as an invitation for the attackers.

The Islamic State of Iraq, an umbrella of Sunni extremist organizations with ties to al-Qaida in Iraq, has claimed responsibility for the church attack.
