KARACHI, Pakistan, Nov. 5 (UPI) -- Officials in Karachi, Pakistan, said they are bracing for violence at the funeral of a slain political leader Saturday.

Interior Minister Rehman Malik said Friday a ban on carrying weapons and other security measures will be instituted for the burial of Imran Farooq, a founder of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement, the English-language Dawn newspaper reported.

Farooq was assassinated in London Sept. 16.

"We have two options to move Dr. Farooq's body from the airport to the graveyard," Malik said. "His body could be shifted via air or land, but the option cannot be disclosed for the moment due to security concerns."

The Karachi Traders Action Committee said all markets and commercial centers will stay closed Saturday and Sunday.
